DAY 01: ARRIVE DELHI: BY INTERNATIONAL FLIGHT
Arrive Delhi by International Flight.
Today you will arrive at Delhi’s International Airport. Following customs, immigration formalities and baggage collection, our representative will meet you as you at the arrival terminal building and transfer to Hotel (Check in time is 1200 Hrs).
Delhi – India’s capital and a major gateway to the country. Delhi is a bustling metropolis, which successfully combines in its folds – the ancient with the modern. Amidst the fast spiraling skyscrapers the remnants of a bygone time in the form of its many monuments stand as silent reminders to the region’s ancient legacy. Overnight at Hotel
DAY 02: DELHI
After breakfast you will proceed for visit of Old & New Delhi.
Enjoy unique yet fascinating experience of Old Delhi – Happily Chaotic.
You will visit Jama Masjid – the largest mosque of Asia, followed by a private tricycle rickshaw ride through the lanes of Chandni Chowk, also known as Silver Street. Next we shall drive past the mighty Red Fort, built by the Emperor Shah Jahan – the builder of Taj Mahal. Conclude the tour of Old Delhi with visit to Gandhi Memorial where Mahatma Gandhi was shot dead.
Later visit New Delhi: The tour to Imperial Delhi will include a visit to the Qutub Minar, which is the tallest stone tower in India. Also visit Humayun Tomb. Our drive back to the hotel will be through one of the most colonial part of New Delhi called Raisina Hill. Drive past the Presidential House and India Gate – a war memorial arch. Overnight at Hotel
DAY 03: DELHI – IMPHAL: BY FLIGHT
Morning transfer to Airport to board flight to Imphal. Flight TBA. Meeting and Assistance on arrival and transfer to hotel.
Afternoon visit IMA Bazaar, Imperial War Cemetery. Evening see Sangai Festival PERIOD OF SANGAI FESTIVAL – 21-30 NOVEMBER (EVERY YEAR).
The Sangai Festival strives to promote the best of what the state has to offer to the world. Witness the best of art and culture, handlooms, handicrafts, ethnic sports, cuisines, music, adventure sports, as well as the scenic natural beauty of the land.
The festival format is such that events take place all over Manipur. During the day there are outdoor events. Post 4.30 PM cultural events are in Imphal at BOAT, a mini stadium.
The events held in Imphal include polo matches. Witness traditional polo, which originated here and contemporary sport. It is from here that the British first learned polo. The traditional boat race, Hiyang-Hiren Tanaba is a power packed event. The dance forms of Manipur deserve special mention.
Ras-Leela dance, Pung Cholom and the ethnic Manipuri dance form creates magic on visitors with elegant steps and poignant music. The fusion music performances during the festival are absolutely wonderful.
Events outside Imphal includes trekking climbing to highest peak of the state, Mount Iso. And boat exploration and encounters with fisher folk on Loktak Lake Moirang.
In the city festival performances, crafts and textiles are some of the highlights. The Festival is the right venue to get a perspective on Manipuri culture. Overnight at Hotel
DAY 04: IMPHAL
After breakfast visit the Kangla Museum which depicts the history of Manipur in the last century. The ruins of the Palace of Kangla are in the city centre, surrounded by a moat. Watch Polo final match. Overnight at Hotel
DAY 05: IMPHAL
Post breakfast drive to Loktak Lake “Floating Lake” (50km, 1hr 45mins), you will enjoy the boat ride and see the floating houses in the lake. Overnight at Hotel
DAY 06: IMPHAL – KOHIMA: BY SURFACE
After breakfast drive to Kohima (140kms, 4-5hrs) to attend the tribal Hornbill Festival 01-10 DECEMBER (EVERY YEAR).
The tribes of Nagaland celebrate their festivals with gusto and fervour. More than 60% of the population of Nagaland depends on agriculture and therefore most of their festivals revolve round agriculture. Overnight at Hotel
DAY 07: IMPHAL – KOHIMA: BY SURFACE
After breakfast attend HORNBILL Festival, featuring sixteen Naga tribes, then on to Hornbill Heritage Village (12 km), War Museum and back to hotel.
Afternoon visit the local market, State Museum, and Khonoma Village (21 km). Overnight at Hotel
DAY 08: KOHIMA – KAZIRANGA: BY SURFACE
Morning in Kohima for Hornbill Festival, afternoon drive to Kaziranga National Park (240km, 6-7 Hrs Drive). On arrival check in at hotel. Evening Tea and relax.
Kaziranga National Park – This World Heritage site hosts two-thirds of the world’s Great One-horned rhinoceros also known for the highest density of tigers among the protected areas in the world and of course swamp deer (Barasinghas), Elephant and wild water buffalos too. The rhinos generally mind their own business and munch absentmindedly on the grass, only moving off when you come in for a closer look. They are prone to doing funny and inexplicable things. Even showier are the birds, Kaziranga harbors several large, easily-visible species, Adjutant storks, bar-headed geese and eagles of all varieties stand elegantly in shallow ponds, posture regally upon bare branches and circles above with languorous ease. DAY 09: KAZIRANGA
Morning Elephant ride and back to hotel for breakfast, post breakfast Jeep safari in Kaziranga. Lunch followed by Jeep Safari (Agoratoli / Kohora Range).
One could see wild Elephant herds roaming around or Rhinos browse past visitors unconcernedly. The wild buffalo is another attraction of the reserve and again there are over 6oo of these in the reserve. The mouse deer, the hog deer, barking deer, Chinkara gazelle, bears; leopards, leopard cat, wild boars and the gaur are to be found here. Overnight at Hotel
DAY 10 :KAZIRANGA- GUWAHATI: BY SURFACE, GUWAHATI – DELHI: BY FLIGHT
Morning Elephant ride and back to hotel for breakfast, post breakfast drive to Guwahati Airport to board flight to Delhi (190 kms, 04 Hrs Drive), Flight TBA
Assistance on arrival at Delhi Airport and transfer to Hotel. Overnight at Hotel
DAY 11: DELHI – BACK HOME: BY FLIGHT
Breakfast at hotel and on time transfer to Airport to board flight to Back Home.
